1. Using a sharp knife, slice avocado lengthwise in half, starting with the thicker end and working knife around pit.
2. Holding the avocado in your hands, twist both sides to separate the halves.
3. With a quick, hard motion, whack the center of the blade into the pit, then twist and pull to remove; discard pit.
4. Slice each avocado half lengthwise into two.
5. Remove the peel, and discard.
6. Cut avocado quarters into wedges.
