Measure your window, adding 2 inches to the height to allow for a curtain-rod sleeve. With pinking shears, cut thick white cotton-polyester fabric to measurements; cut white chiffon the same size.
1. Enlarge the templates onto paper using the grid method (for instructions, see below), and cut out. Trace the outline on the cotton-polyester fabric.
2. Fill in the outline with dark-gray housepaint. Allow the paint to dry overnight.
3. Place the chiffon over the painted fabric. Holding the chiffon and painted fabric together, fold over, and stitch the top 2 inches to create a pocket for a curtain rod. Hang curtain on window, silhouette and chiffon side facing out.
Enlarging Templates Using the Grid Method
When templates like the ones here require enlargement beyond the capabilities of a photocopier, use the grid method. First, decide on the size of your finished product. Next, draw a grid that size, proportionate to the grid on the original template with the same number of squares. Finally, with a pencil, draw what you see in each square of the original template onto the corresponding squares of the enlarged template.

I am so glad I found this! This will look amazing in the front windows this year! Also, I had noticed that people were commenting about the loss of loved ones on here. I understand how it is to lose someone, however this IS Halloween, the only time people can use this stuff as a creative outlet and the gorier the better. Now, the only way I could see anyone being offended, is if the shadow figure WAS an exact replica of the person who passed :( This one above is obviously NOT its just for FUN!!!
Outstanding idea, got two windows it would look great in, agree it might not be to everyone's taste but she has so many more ideas that might work for you. Happy Holloween to one and all.
The person hanging is awful. My son died this way and countless other people are suicide survivors who are thrown back into the tragic memory due to thoughtless things like this.
Love this! My 9 year old girl picked this out after getting an account for me on here. Perhaps the person had a bad experience that this reminded her of? In which case Im sorry. But just move on and choose something else..
But don't forget the origin of All hallows eve. To scare off the creatures and spirits of the night !
Disneyland's Haunted Mansion ride has a hangman. If Disney does it, I think you can be pretty sure it's in good taste. It's HALLOWEEN. If some people can't handle that, they should stick to Christmas and leave everyone else alone.
If you don't like the hanging person.Draw something else like a floating candelabra, chandelier or another shadowed person.
I dont understand why someone hanging would be in bad taste. and i agree, he is not hanging it is the sashing on the window
Also, I don't think the man is "hanging", it's just the line from the window....which in my windows it would work, since I don't have the vertical line.
This is awesome!! I am a Halloween lover (in my 50's) who likes to be scared a little bit, and this would certainly do it for me!! I want to try it.
P.S. Negative comments aren't needed....you don't have to make it if you don't like it.
Love the scary windows! Like another said, ignore the finger wagging; Halloween is not about political correctedness at all. It's about scary, spooky and unearthly stuff and the BOO! factor.*I'll make these for the holiday for sure!* love your Halloween crafts and projects, and so do my kids. :-)
in bad taste

Also... since the figure on the left is only legs, and there's no visible "rope," my guess was that they were floating ghosts. Very spooky!
Very Hitchcock. Please don't let your creativity be inhibited by finger-wagging 'shame on you's, Martha and Staff. I think it's awesome and I may try it this year!
I can't wait to really get the creepy curtain effect. The scarier the better if you ask me. I like the hanging man, very spooky.
Get a life Mrs_Newlywed.
Great craft! I made these curtains and they turned out wonderfully. If you don't want to sew, you can also purchase cheap, ready-made curtains at IKEA. I bought their least expensive white curtain for $9.99/pair and their least expensive sheer curtains at $4.99/pair and they worked well -
