Pumpkin Cachepots

Overflowing with bright blossoms, these chubby-cheeked planters are sure to elicit grins.
Martha Stewart Living, October 2006

Overflowing with bright blossoms, these chubby-cheeked planters are sure to elicit grins. The plants remain in their plastic containers inside the pumpkins, so no repotting is required. Cut a hole in the pumpkins' tops, and scoop out the flesh. Using a hole cutter or a drill, cut openings in the bottom for drainage. Fill pumpkins with potted flowers, such as chrysanthemums, and display in a sunny spot.

This is a great idea and something more to do with pumpkins other than the usual jack o lanterns.

It would be a good idea to place a saucer under the pumpkin to catch the water that drains from the holes in it.
