Special thanks to Danskin, Lands' End, and American Apparel for providing all the clothing items featured with today's winged costumes.
If you want to make the bat wings buy panty hose or knee highs labeled queen size. I got some wild colors where you can buy hair extensions and wigs they were very cheap. The bat pattern makes great dragon wings to.
I have made these wings before I saw them on this show. I used acrylic paint and watered it down a little. You just have to use your own judgment on how much water to use.
how flame resistant is this once its all finished? The hair coloring I thought was very flammable and was wondering if their are alternatives or a flame retardent spray of some sort....Anyone?
Part 1 of the video is under the article page "New Butterfly Costume"
i would not recommend using the bat template as I could not pull tights over the wire shape without destroying the shape I had created.
How big did you in large the pattern
watch the "new butterfly costume" video, it shows how to make the wings
I hope to make these for my girls dressing as fairies this year. However, I wish the video showed part 1 to see how the wings are put together from the beginning.
