Autumn Centerpiece
Martha shows you how to make the distinctive autumn-branch centerpiece from her fabulous party.
Make a beautiful autumn centerpiece by "planting" a tree on your table!
Tools and Materials
18-inch plywood square
1 to 3 branches
L-brackets and hardware
Cable ties
Burlap
EZ-Glide surface protectors
Leaves, gourds, and artificial birds
Pencil
Autumn Branch Centerpiece How-To
1. Place a branch on the plywood square and mark a line around the branch on the plywood with a pencil.
2. Screw an L-bracket on either side of where you have outlined the branch. Drill through the bracket holes into the branch base; screw or bolt branch to brackets.
3. Add up to two more branches, if desired, securing to original branch by wrapping a cable tie around the base of the branches.
4. Hide screws, brackets and cable ties by wrapping a length of burlap around the base. Dress with leaves, gourds, and artificial birds.
5. Add EZ-Glides to underside of base to protect furniture.

I love Martha's show and her website - I'm here every single day looking for new ideas. My only complaint is that she does not always have pics for us and when she does - you can't click on them to enlarge them. I copy everything onto Word documents and when I copy the pics available, many times I can't make out enough details. PLEASE MARTHA..... helps us out and always add pics that we can enlarge. Thanks so much!!!
The episode that showed the tablecloth used to cover up the base of this centerpiece appeared in her show titled "Cooking School Begins" aired recently. It is made of colored burlap and she showed how to pull stings from fabric to make fringe and designs. She also had linen napkins to match. Hope this helps
What episode was it that Martha made the brown cover w/ the fringed end that she used to cover the base of the center piece?
I enjoyed todays show very much. When you do things you really go out all the way. I wish I could attend one of your parties.
You mentioned that you had red caneries--are they from a different country and do they sing like the yellow ones? We had yellow ones when I was a child and I loved their song. Thanks for sharing so much with us your fans. Happy Halloween, Jennie Brynildsen
