The Martha Stewart Show, December 2007
Inspired by a desire to share some of her mother's wonderful cooking lessons with family, Martha came up with these two great ideas for sharing memories with loved ones.
Martha compiled a set of nine DVDs with all of her mother's TV appearances and gave them as gifts to family so they can see how to make her dishes exactly as she prepared them. You, too, can share memories with family by creating your own DVDs and DVD labels on a computer. Simply take one of your favorite pictures, and print the image on a sticky label designed to fit a DVD -- it's a small touch that makes the gift extra special. When packaging these DVDs, place them all into individual envelopes, and then take your chosen photographic image and print it on card stock to make a one-of-a-kind cover.
If you don't have video, you can record the recipes another way: Simply print the recipes on card stock and wrap them with a pretty ribbon.

As a film producer of Biographies of the everyday (wo)man, I had the opportunity to produce a life story about a wonderful 90 years plus woman. Because baking was such an important part of her life, I had her tell her life story while she was baking in the kitchen Her family loved the finished product and both memories and recipes were saved
dear martha, thank you so much for this idea....my daughter,denise, who is graduating from high school this year, has been asking me what appropriate gifts she will give to her closest classmates on graduation day, this idea of collecting 'activities' and immortalize it in a DVD is so perfect!!!..we decided that she collects all their memorable photos and make a slideshow out of it, then copy the slideshow on a CD..... my daughter loves the idea so much!!!! thanks again !!!!

It doesn't mention above, in regards to the reipe cards, is there a particular program you used where you can easily insert recipes into the program to produce these cards? What a lovely idea for both the recipe cards and DVDs--I am planning to do something in honor of my Dad, who I miss dearly. I am sorry for your loss.

I am Polish, Podbielski was my maiden name, I have recipies from my relatives over the years but I have always loved your show especially when your mother was with you. I would definitly purchase DVD's featuring your mother......Sorry for your loss!

Regarding the DVDs, it seems that many people would purchase them, should they be available. Perhaps all the proceeds could go to Big Martha's favourite charity or the MS Center for Living.

Your Mother was a true treasure, she reminds me so much of my sainted Aunt in Edmonton. My wife would dearly love to have the DVD's also as I'm sure would half the known world. Best Wishes. Richard.
