Oh I just love making these booties. Last year I made a pair big enough for my 5 year old and my husband. They loved getting them for Christmas. I"m making a pair now for a baby shower gift and now I have added a twist to the blocks. I now crochet ribbon on them or make patterns. Martha always brings out the best of me.

I think I'll just crochet 4" squares. Can't wait to buy some lovely yarn and get started.

I sew baby blocks and I put a bells or rice into film canisters (yes, I do have a few left in my house) and then put the film canister in the middle when I'm stuffing it. It makes a great noise when the babies shake them. The film canister is too big to choke on should they rip the block open.

Bamboo yarn is available. It's anti-microbial. Soy yarn is also available. Both biodegradable.

I think the potholder looms would work. I'm going to try to make a crochet ball also using circle forms.

You don't have to weave these. Just crochet them like my daughter did.

Go to an art store and buy four 4" canvas stretchers. Put them together to form a square. Hammer small finishing nails around the front edge, and make sure you only hammer them in halfway. If you are using wool, put an uneven number of nails on two sides (to anchor the start of teh wool). If you are using nylons cut into circular strips, put an even number of nails.

Touble is, where do I purchase a 4 inch weaving loom?
I got some woven baby booties in a baby gift hamper my mum gave me. I want some for myself now they look so warm!
Baby Bobbie was born on December 16th. The loom works great! She'll get these for Christmas.
I found this link to instructions for a homemade loom. I picked up some incredibly soft bamboo yarn today and can't wait to make these. First grandbaby girl is due on New Year's Eve!
