Click-and-Print Ornaments

At least one kind of mouse will be stirring this Christmas: Download our ornament templates, and then add your pictures to fashion personalized decorations.

Materials

  • Ornament templates
  • Card stock/photo paper
  • Printer
  • Utility knife
  • Bone folder
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Long needle
  • Ribbon
  • Beads

Steps

  1. Step 1

Download templates; print onto card stock (or color-photocopy at 130 percent). Using a utility knife, cut out the six squares. (If adding photos, use imaging software to size them to fit windows, which are 1 1/4 inches square. Print onto photo paper; cut out, leaving a 1/8-inch border. Cut out windows on two squares; tape photos to back.)

  2. Step 2

With printed sides faceup, score the four corners of each square with a bone folder. Fold corners up at 90-degree angles. Using a glue stick, attach squares to form ornament.

  3. Step 3

Trim edges with scissors if making rounded-edge cube. Thread a long needle with ribbon; pull through a corner, adding a bead and knotting. Or pull a double strand of ribbon through top and bottom; add two beads and knot.

I can't for the life of me figure out the green one. How do you get a pentagon on four panels?

  • 19 Dec, 2008

They are easy to make once you figure out how they go together. We are using the green one as a star on the tree w/o the bottom . You do need to print 2 of the green ones to get the bottom

The directions don't make any sense to me. How do you fold these things? I'm starting with the pink one. Help!

Hi, I have tried to increase the size but when I print it, it comes out a smaller version. How do I get it to print the larger version?

  • 1 Dec, 2008

The green ornament needs 5 sides, you'll have to print the template twice. It will all fit together as long as the pieces are the right way up! Best of luck.

If you want to make these ornaments using different cardstock or scrapbook papers, simply print the design on the back of your paper after enlarging. Another option would be to first enlarge the design and print on plain paper and trace the outline of the design onto plain paper and photocopying the outline onto your own colored cardstock or scrapbook paper.
