Project

Edge-Punched Medallions

Give any special occasion an extra pop of color with graphic medallion embellishments.

Introduction

Resources

Scoring board, 12-by-12-inch paper pads, and edge-punch sets available from Martha Stewart Crafts.

Materials

  • 12-by-12-inch paper pad
  • Craft knife
  • Scoring board
  • Decorative edge punch
  • Coordinating corner punch
  • Hot-glue gun and hot-glue sticks
  • Hot-glue mat

Steps

  1. Step 1

Cut two 12-inch-squares of paper in half to make 4 strips. Punch one long edge of each strip.

  2. Step 2

Lay strip on score board, with length perpendicular to score lines. Identify a "valley" or "peak" in the edge-punched design, and score paper on every other valley or peak. Flip strip over and score again, between scored valleys or peaks. Repeat for all strips.

  3. Step 3

Place a piece of double-sided tape on each short edge of the accordion-folded strips. Tape one strip to another, end to end, lining up design. Flatten out resulting tube, forming a circular medallion.

  4. Step 4

Add a dab of hot glue to center of medallion to secure in place; place a household item (such as a glass, bottle, or plate) on center to hold while glue cools.

  5. Step 5

Create a decorative center with punches, and glue to center of medallion.

I completely agree with the previous four posts. I hope someone from the crafts team at MSLO actually reads them.

I agree with craftaway in regard to the magazine. I have several of Martha's scrapbooking tools and I am sure there are many ways these tools could be used if I only had the hints and tips from the experts.

I wish Martha and her craft staff would come together and create a quarterly magazine showing projects made with MS Craft tools. This magazine could also showcase new and upcoming craft tools and Michaels coupons : )

Yes, please! i watched the video of the scoring board being used to make the 1/2 medallion but am unsure if i am to just use a longer piece of paper or glue two pieces together. could we get clarification or, better, a video ,or better yet, instructions w/ more pictures? not that we aren't crafty, but when away from the pc, it sometimes is hard to remember and a picture is worth many words! =0)
