Introduction

These adorable miniature satchels made of crepe paper and filled with personalized M&M's make perfect handmade holiday gifts and party favors.

For more information about personalized M&Ms, visit mymms.com.

Materials

  • Stocking template
  • Pencil
  • Crepe paper
  • Sheer fabric, such as organza
  • Straight pins
  • Sewing machine threaded with complementary thread
  • Decorative scissors, such as scallop or pinking shears
  • M&M's
  • Stapler
  • Ribbon
  • Festive stickers

Steps

  1. Step 1

Print template. Cut out and trace stocking or dreidel onto a piece of crepe paper.

  2. Step 2

Place a sheet of sheer fabric on top of the crepe paper, and secure with a few straight pins.

  3. Step 3

Sew a straight stitch with a sewing machine along the template lines you have drawn to attach both pieces. Leave the top of the dreidel or stocking open.

  4. Step 4

Being careful not to cut into the sewn line, cut around the shape with decorative scissors.

  5. Step 5

    Fill with M&M's.

  6. Step 6

Fold over top piece of dreidel or stocking to create a cuff. Use a small staple to close the dreidel or stocking and attach a ribbon loop for hanging. Embellish the top with a sticker to cover the staple.

To bclmanx, I would NOT use stitch witchery, but Aleene's Tacky Glue. With it, just outline the stocking where you would sew with the glue. You can even add glitter on top of the glue. But the ironing over a sheer fabric, even turned over would stick to what ever was next to that sheer side. Big mess, so use the glue, it driess clear and flexible.

I used felt and it worked just fine, probably better as it is much stronger to hold up better.

Could felt be used if you cannot find crepe paper?

I like this project, but am wondering...if one doesn't have a sewing machine would stitch witchery work on this? Any thoughts?

That looks easy enough. I will be making some for next year. Too late now for this Christmas because, as of today, my shopping is all done :)
