A guidebook's pages make natural backdrops for photographs of the locales you've visited. You can also insert a miniature album of favorite sights using your own snapshots and airmail envelopes. A pocket added to the back page gives the book another interactive element, allowing readers to remove the items tucked inside. To record the year of the trip, a numeral is stamped on each of four French stamps (stamps from the world over can be bought at stamp-collecting shops).
For this scrapbook, out-of-date travel books from the visited cities are taken apart, then reassembled into accordion books using the original covers, a few of the pages, and maps.

- Utility knife
- Ruler
- Photo adhesive tape
- Photo adhesive paper
- Decorative paper
Accordion-Style Travelogue How-To
1. Using a utility knife and ruler, cut off covers of a used hardcover travel book, keeping 1/8 inch of spine intact; set covers aside, and discard spine.
2. Cut out pages (we used 12) to use as backgrounds (you can also use store-bought scraps, such as maps). Attach photos and scraps to pages.
3. Lay out 6 pages, right sides down. Join pages with photo adhesive tape. Back with remaining 6 pages, using photo adhesive paper.
4. Use photo adhesive tape to attach left side of first page to right side of front cover. Attach decorative paper to inside of cover using photo adhesive paper to create an end paper and to hide tape. Repeat for back cover.

I think this is a super idea! Now I know the reason I always grabbed all that material along the way - now I ask myself why didn't I come up with that.....lol....
The idea is great -but I don't understand 'how' you make the accordian. How are the pages from a travel book, but together to make the accordian???
I like this idea very much..it kind of organizes the whole trip, you could add admission tickets to any events that you also attended, or a business card of a place you visited or a menu from a place you dined.
That is a great idea about using the pamphlets you pick up on your travels. Using them to put all your extra stuff in. It would have saved me alot of extra work instead of putting them all in scrap books.
You can right click on your mouse and save the image, then open it in windows picture and fax viewer. That way you can enlarge the picture to a larger size.
the Craft Of The Day Photos are ALWAYS TOO SMALL - regardless of which project and/or the contents of the project. although some people have no need to see the project up close, others may find a particular element of the project particularly interesting and inspire other concepts. however, the Photos are ALWAYS TOO SMALL!
I love the idea. You don't have to see it up close to get the idea...just run with it! Know those pamphlets they have at hotels with all the things to do in the area? Why not start with gluing a few of those together, then collage over the whole thing with ticket stubs, photo's and some random interviews and quotes by the family. You could keep a box full and put them out for guests to peruse when they are trying to decide which attractions are good to go to in your area....

I agree the ability to take a closer look, because the directions are sometimes very general, would be a great help.
