Carpet Cleaning
Martha chats about stain-resistant and eco-friendly carpets, and demonstrates simple techniques for removing stains.
Have you ever hosted a party and been afraid to serve things like red wine because of stains? Martha knows the feeling, and was excited to discover a carpet that has stain-protection engineered right into the fibers: SmartStrand with DuPont Sorona carpet from Mohawk.
Available in a palette of pretty and practical colors, this new carpet is also eco-friendly -- a quality of particular importance to Martha -- and releases only a third of the greenhouse gases that are emitted when making other carpeting.
Removing Stains How-To
1. To remove troublesome carpet stains such as red wine, begin by using a clean, dry, white towel or paper towel to blot the spill. Remember, never rub a stain.
2. Dribble very hot water from a sponge onto the spill. Blot again with towel, and continue to repeat this process until the towel no longer shows any red color.
