The Chicest Link

  • 2 jump rings (one for each end)
  • Length of chain
  • Spring clasp
  • Toggle or snap needle-nose pliers

  1. Step 1

Pry open jump rings and slide them over the end links. Close one.

  2. Step 2

Slide clasp on the other and close ring.

  3. Step 3

Cut chain so it wraps around your lower waist twice. Attach an S-hook clasp to the right end.

  4. Step 4

Holding the left end at your left hip bone, wrap the chain, mark the spot where it meets, and attach a jump ring.

  5. Step 5

Mark a spot at your right hip; make a swag with the chain and attach it with a jump ring to that spot. Drape back with the remaining chain, and loop the S-hook clasp through the left-hand jump ring and a link in the chain to close the belt.

A video showing how to make different styles of chain belts would be so helpful!

I have put together many pieces of jewelry, but I found these directions are a little less than fully helpful for a beginner. Just a couple of diagrams would make it more understandable and directions on how to split a jump ring correctly makes quite a bit of difference as well. Thanks for the list of so many suppliers. I love the ideas that you have given and I wish everyone will have a great time crafting bracelets for yourself and friends. They'll love you for it!

I really like this idea. I've been wanting to make a bracelet like this for a long time. I knew how to make one but just didn't feel like doing it. Now I just have to!!!
I also like making bracelets using a silver or gold chain and clamping large glass beads on a jump ring then onto the chain.
You should try it. Then every time I go somewhere special I clamp on a bead to resemble that event!
Good Luck and have lots of fun!!!
