Shadows are emblematic of Halloween: dark and fleeting, and always lurking a step behind you. But decorating with them is impossible -- at least without black magic -- so use some black paper and a little craftiness to make silhouettes, and you'll get the next best thing. Our Halloween silhouettes are simple and inexpensive to make. Use our templates to haunt your home with a prowling shadowy figure.
Staircase Silhouette
Greet trick-or-treaters with a menacing silhouette that climbs the stairs. The rise on steps doesn't differ much from one staircase to another, so these pieces can be saved and used in another location next year. To make a large silhouette for your staircase, print out our staircase template; cut out each section. Following the numbered diagram, tape together the sections for each stair (numbered 1 through 9) at the dotted lines. Trace onto pieced-together black construction paper, and cut out. Number the back of each stair section according to the diagram; attach each section to the appropriate stair riser with double-sided tape.

I could not find the bat template, its so hard to find what you want .
In my Oct. 2011 issue of MSLiving, page 56,there is a website for a hanging bat. I can find no such website on line. Only a template for bat wings for a costume.
Where would the hanging bat template be found?
Me too, is the upside down bat available and I just can't see the link or is it unavailable?????
I'd also like a template for the upside down bat!
tHey would be so spooky in my room. I like spooky
I got mine at Michaels where they carry Martha Stewart merch.
Love the bats!!! Where can I get the Hanging upside down bats at or the template?
I used the bats and the man silhouettes and they looked awesome! I received so many compliments. They were the perfect touch to the rest of my decorations.

This is an awesome effect on our stairway, very spooky!
Our Halloween Party theme this year is Mad Scientist. This will be a great decoration to help transform the house into a Mad Scientists lab

My kids and some of their friends made the bat silhouettes a few years ago, it ended up looking amazing on the wall. We used a little yellow glitter glue for eyes, we also used white gel pens to make funny faces. I was most surprized by how good they looked after I had stored them and put them up again the next year. Now my kids add to our bat collection with new ones each season.
