Glittered Deer Table Decorations

A little sparkle transforms inexpensive toys.

Materials

  • Plastic deer, from a craft or toy store
  • Small paintbrush
  • White glue
  • Powder glitter
  • Bowl

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Hold a toy deer by one leg; use a paintbrush to coat head, body, and other three legs with a thin, even layer of white glue.

  2. Step 2

    Spoon glitter onto deer; gently shake excess into bowl. Let dry.

  3. Step 3

    Repeat process on last leg; touch up bare spots by dabbing them with glue and spooning on more glitter.

    @ vintagetoys - have you tried your local craft stores? Although I live in a very small township, we have 4 "craft" stores. Michael's, JoAnn's (super store), Pat Catan's and Hobby Lobby. I haven't looked, but am sure I can find small plastic animals in one of the above.

    I can't find inexpensive plastic deer anywhere? Any suggestions? I've tried ebay, amazon, local stores..etc. Please help-I want to do this project with my niece, i already bought your glitter at Michaels

    It's amazing how coating a cheap plastic item with glitter can transform it into a chic decorative object. I use this same technique with all sorts of small plastic toys. The key is using ultra fine glitter, the finest you can find!
