Gift-Wrap Coasters How-To
1. Cut out a piece of paper slightly larger than the glass square. You can use any type of wrapping paper, or nice-looking kraft paper.
2. Apply Mod Podge solution with sponge brush lightly to one side of the glass -- brushing from the center out.
3. Place your paper face down onto the glued side. Smooth paper to glued side with bone folder -- make sure to remove all air bubbles.
4. Let stand until it's completely dry. If you mess up on the glue or paper, don't fret -- just wipe off the glue and start over.
5. Trim off excess paper with a utility knife.
6. Peel off adhesive side to cork square, and attach to papered side of glass. Trim excess cork with a utility knife.
7. Tie four coasters together with decorative ribbon, and add a recipe card for Martha's Famous Eggnog.
Resources: Adhesive cork liner is available from the Container Store. Mod Podge, bone folders, and plexiglass squares can be found at any craft store, or online at michaels.com or artsuppliesonline.com.

I wanted to make personalized coasters too, but this method was hard especially since you have to be really careful when washing them. I found a product called Tilano Marble Coaster Kit where you can put your own images onto the surface. You seal the image so they are waterproof- I love them! http://www.tilano.net

This looks cute, but how well do the coasters work? A friend made me coasters last christmas with tile squares and stamped on them, but they are not effective coasters. We use coasters a lot, what would really absorb the liquid ?
Where can I purchase square pieces of glass for this project?
I did this with photos of my two boys. Everyone I gave them to still thank me for them. And how much they love them.
You could also us scaps of wrapping paper and make a quilt pattern with them.
