Clover Hair Pin

Little girls love to wear pretty things in their hair. And nothing's prettier than a tiny clover. Attach a barrette, comb, or bobby pin, and you can wear springlike blooms even in the depths of winter.

You Will Need:
-- Felt
-- Scissors
-- Needle
-- Embroidery Floss or Other Heavy Thread
-- Button, Bead, or Sequin (optional)
-- Craft Glue
-- Small Paintbrush
-- Barrette, Comb, or Bobby Pin

Clover Pin How-To
Most real clovers have three leaves, but you can make four-leaf clovers to wear for good luck, if you like.

1.Cut small rounded leaves, then stitch them together (see basic flower how-to below).

2.Next, sew a sliver of green felt to the back for a slim stem. Use a tiny dab of glue to hold clover in place on a bobby pin, and sew it to the top part of the pin to secure.

Basic Flower How-To
Our single-layer flowers have petals all the same size. For flowers with multiple layers, like the camellia, make rings of small, medium, and large petals.

1.Cut one petal or leaf to desired shape, then cut around it to make the rest.

2.Sew a running stitch through bottom edge of each petal.

3.Tie thread ends in a half-knot and pull tight, bringing petals together. Tie again to knot.

4. Arrange flower pieces: Stack petals on top of leaves, and button on top of petals. Push needle up from back of leaves, petals, and button, then back down through the layers; repeat a few times. Tie off.

5.Place a dab of glue on back of flower and press to barrette. To secure, sew flower to barrette with a few stitches.

Tip: thick felt holds its shape better than thin as you cut, tug, and sew

These little clovers are also cute on pin curl clips. Simply take a little velvet ribbon and glue it to the top clip, then add your sweet little shamrocks and clovers. The pin curl clip holds the hair a little better, and gives a broader base for your embellishment to sit on.-Jenny at CraftTestDummies

Very cute, you can also cover buttons and slip the button loop through the bobby pin and glue it for another fun project that looks amazing!

This would be a lot better if it had a pattern that we could have traced. It would have been easier for the children to do these. We also did these for several different occasions. Like my daughter is turning 8 years old so we made a big 8 and glued it on bobby pins. She will wear these on her birthday.
