With its plush texture and luxuriant sheen, velvet adds an aura of opulence to even the simplest items. In this project, an embossed velvet trim enhances a Christmas stocking with an extra measure of festiveness.

1. Cut a piece of velvet to 4 by 4 inches, and place it facedown on an ironing board. With a hot iron, press a piece of interfacing on the back of the velvet. I, too, had difficulty finding the pad that Martha used to iron the velvet, but after a lot of research I found something called a Velvaboard. I finally found a couple of places online that sell them. Just do a google search on Velvaboard and you should find some places online to purchase them from. They are $20-25 for a 9"X19" pad.
I love this idea.. I have run into a snag. I am trying to find the pad that Martha used on the show to keep the velvet from being flattened. It had "thousands" of little pin tips. Can anyone help with the "technical" name or where one could be ordered.
Thanks a million.
I think this is such an elegant method to tie my holiday decorations together. I am planning on using this in stockings, tree skirt and table runner. The only trouble I am having is locating the specialized board I will need to iron the velvet. Is there anyone out there that could point me in the right direction?
