Flecks of paint on paper foliage mimic the mottled appearance of real leaves.

  • 2-inch or wider bristled brush

  • Acrylic paint

  • Card stock

  • Paint-flecked paper

  • Pencil

  • Gel-ink pen

  1. Place a piece of art paper in a deep cardboard box.

  2. Dip a 2-inch or wider bristled brush in acrylic paint, just coating tips of bristles. Holding brush in one hand, use the fingers of your other hand to pull back on bristles, then release so paint spatters on the paper; let dry, 30 minutes. Repeat with a second paint color if desired; let dry.

  3. Fold a card-stock note card in half. Write a guest's name with a gel-ink pen on card. Affix a leaf, perched at an angle, to card with tape.
