Speckled Place Cards

Martha Stewart Living, November 2006

Flecks of paint on paper foliage mimic the mottled appearance of real leaves.

Place a piece of art paper in a deep cardboard box.

Dip a 2-inch or wider bristled brush in acrylic paint, just coating tips of bristles. Holding brush in one hand, use the fingers of your other hand to pull back on bristles, then release so paint spatters on the paper; let dry, 30 minutes. Repeat with a second paint color if desired; let dry.

Download our leaf templates. Enlarge or reduce size as desired. Trace leaf onto paint-flecked paper with a pencil; cut out.

Fold a card-stock note card in half. Write a guest's name with a gel-ink pen on card. Affix a leaf, perched at an angle, to card with tape.

even though in Australia we don't have Thanksgiving as our Fall (Autumn) is when you have Spring, I would love to make something like this for another occasion. I think even using the leave for other craft and decorating projects.
