Pop-Up Sponges

Introduction

Babies can soak up knowledge while washing off dirt with sponges in fun shapes. And these sponges are as simple as A-B-C for parents to make because they start out as easy-to-cut flat sheets that plump up when they're wet.

Materials

Steps

  1. Step 1

Download and print out our duck template, or create your own design; trace it with a pencil onto a sponge sheet.

  2. Step 2

Cut out, using sharp scissors and a utility knife for tight spots.

You can find 8 x 11 size sponge sheets at http://www.goplanetearth.com. They also have a fun tutorial on using these sponge to make a taco soap. http://www.goplanetearth.com/project_taco.html. The larger sponge sheet will fit two of the duck templates Martha posted.

Martha is like the lady who will give you a recipe but will deliberately leave one key ingredient out. She always has to be the best. It's a good thing!

When I did a search on the term "compressed sponge sheets" Google came up with a number of results. Here's one offered by Amazon.com

    Found compressed sponges @dharmatrading.com

. I totally agree with the comments on the lack of information, i.e. resources. Can we find it ourselves ?usually, but not always. An idea is only worth its execution
Martha's Crats must have a different Mission statement that we all suppose.

I agree with some of these comments. I constantly attempt to make Martha Stewart crafts and find no resources for the materials. I had a craft party at Christmas and we tried to make the bird wreaths that Martha demonstrated. I tried to find pure suet to use to no avail. We tried to use what was available and it was a disaster. We need directions on where to find materials.

I have to agree with another person you never give a place that we can find this item tomake it. This is the 3rd time I wanted to make something and couldn't find it. Thx to another person below she gave us the address to where we can find it. I wish some of the stuff would be at our local craft stores or else share where we can get it. Excellent idea for little children.

I agree with the last comment! I did however find the sheets at "goplanetearth.com" http://www.goplanetearth.com/compressed_sponge.html for $8.95 along with some really cute ideas! Good luck :0)

I hate to leave negative comments but...when there's a craft that so cute and a good idea, why wouldn't MS "make this craft" tell us where to get the sponge sheet...etc... from? This is one of the biggest reasons I don't buy the magazine anymore. Too few good ideas and then no references.
