Bring visual harmony to assorted spices by transferring them to plain jars (we used glass ones, available at housewares stores) and tagging the containers with our self-adhesive labels. Your upgraded collection will be attractive and easier to scan -- no more mistaking the cumin for cinnamon. If you prefer, stick round labels on the lids and stand the jars in a drawer.
You will need one 8 1/2-by-11-inch sheet of self-adhesive paper, a straightedge, a utility knife, and scissors.
Label How-To
1. Download the labels and print them onto self-adhesive paper.
2. Using a straightedge and a utility knife, cut out the rectangular labels; cut out the round labels with a pair of scissors.
3. Peel the labels from their paper backing and carefully affix them to your spice jars.

These are the first labels I looked at, and as it turns out the only ones I like. But, this list is barely half of what I have in my spice cupboard, so like JWelle, I need a way to customize the blanks labels. The computer is quick and easy, but I've spent over an hour trying to find something as simple as spice labels. It really shouldn't be this hard, should it? Maybe there's another way I haven't thought of!
I love these, but I use many spices which are not spelled out in the web site. How can I write the new spice names on the empty labels to match the pre-printed ones? Can it be done?
I found my little jars for my spices at World Market. And for the spices.. they have a whole section of everything plus stuff you didn't think of...

Where can I find these jars?
Has anyone been able to find uncut label paper recently? I checked staples and they did not have it? I would really like to try this project. Any suggestions?
Clip art projects could be "greener" if the pdf sheets coincided with standard label sheets.
why show the labels in red and only have turquoise to print?
Great printable labels - mine are worn. Thanks.
Check out Bed, Bath and Beyond, they have very similar ones and are relatively inexpensive.
I can't afford to go out and buy all new jars
I think that Stampin' Up has the circle punch you need.
My spices are a complete mess. I can't rummage through my spices without half of them falling out of the cupboard. I love the idea of storing them in a jar. This is a great idea and worth the time for me!
I'm sorry, but who has time to do this? There are many better uses for organization time. This is not one of them.
Does anyone know where I can find a circle punch to fit these round labels? I measured the labels and they are 1 3/4" across.
I found spice jars at ebottles.com and they are inexpensive for the 4 oz. size. You can get 12 of them for $11.04 and the caps are 44 cents a piece and are actual spice caps with the open side and the shaker side. Here's the link: http://www.ebottles.com/showbottles.asp?familyid=1328

Did this one for a friend's house warming and it was great!!! You can also go on-line and select jars from various container companies. I found the cutiest jars! This project is definitely a hit!
You can buy labels that already have the red accent on them...try Staples!
I would also like to know how to get the red rim on the labels...
I would also like to know how to get the red rim on the labels...
Where is the camera icon? I am running Vista on my computer and I don't see a camera icon. Thanks.
I love these labels, but how do I change the color from mint green back to the red on the example?
I used the camera in Adobe to copy the blank labels. I opened Word and right clicked and copied the blank labels into a blank document. I used text boxes on the labels (with no line or fill) to type in my own labels. It took about 3 minutes from to start to finish. Good Luck!
I figured out how to customize these labels- although it takes some time and patience. Once you open the Adobe, select the camera icon and cut and paste the labels into the Paint program. You can paste and copy letters onto the blank labels, transfer them into another program (I used Microsoft Word and I was able to get 10 labels onto a page) and there you go.... customized labels!!
Lacking a professional acrobat program that allows editing my suggestion would be to print out the sheet and scan it back into your computer using a program that allows you to add and edit text.
If you have the clear sticky labels (avery, or generic) you could print on the label and stick it on the blank labels
Is there any way to customize the text on these? My spices don't match the labels!
I found some at http://www.sunburstbottle.com.
Great selection and prices.
Debbie-I've found them at Linen
Debbie- These jars can also be found at World Market or, I think on the west coast, the store might be called Cost Plus ???
Debbie, have your tried The Container Store? They have several to choose from.

Hello everyone, I have looked high and low for these spice jars. Can you please tell me where I might find them or ones that are similar?
Thank you,
Debbie
The labels can be printed out if you click on the printer symbol on the PDF toolbar, just above the document and make copies from the printed document or use label paper (uncut). They are really cute printed out.
Ihave tried to copy the template for your spice labels ,and cannot do so.
Please explain
