Quilled Valentine Cards: Open Hearts

Quilling, or paper filigree, is the art of creating intricate shapes from strips of paper. Glue several quilled hearts to a card, and write candy-heart sentiments beneath them. Or slip one to a secret crush and let it speak for itself.

To learn how to make more quilled shapes for cards, go to our quilling how-to. For this Valentine's Day card, consider using some of the following sweet sayings: Be good; You're sweet; Hug me; You and me; Kiss me; My man; Be true; My love; Cutie pie; Dear one; Sweet talk.

I never quilled before but made this for my wife on our 26th anniversary which is three days after Valentines Day. Besides the quilled hearts on the outside I also wrote a message on the inside. My wife loved it so much that I had it framed, it looks great on the wall of our bedroom. Once you get the hang of making the hearts the rest was easy.
