Foot-of-the-Bed Stocking

Martha Stewart Kids, Volume 2 2001

Regardless of how hard it is to rouse kids on a school day, their eyes will undoubtedly snap open at the crack of Christmas dawn. Give them a surprise to wake up to -- and gain an extra hour or so of sleep for yourself -- by hanging stockings from their beds, instead of from the mantel, for Santa to fill with small gifts.

Travel board games, crayons, small activity books, audio books, a note from Santa, and a miniature stuffed companion or two will keep kids occupied until the rest of the family awakens. These stocking stuffers also make great car toys if you have holiday travel plans.
