Meringue Bouquet Cake

Martha Stewart Weddings, Summer 1998

Any cake frosted in buttercream can be decorated with crisp meringue flowers in shades of white. On this cake, some flowers are piped in one piece and baked in the oven, while others are piped petal by petal, baked, assembled with more meringue, and baked again; the overall effect is that of a heavily embroidered bodice. The finished flowers, which are easy to cut through, add a delicious crunch to each slice.

I made this cake for my wedding and it turned out fabulous. It was a labour of love (I was up until 5AM on the day of my wedding just decorating the cake!). I decided at the last minute to bake each tier a different flavour: marble at the base, white chocolate blueberry coffee cake for the third tier, chocolate for the second tier and a mocha chiffon for the top (I didn't feel like carrying a rock to the reception hall). It was original and everyone loved it. But don't ask me to do it again! LOL

I made this cake for my wedding and it turned out fabulous. It was a labour of love (even though I stayed up until 5 in the morning the day of my wedding decorating the cake!). I didn't want all the cake layers to be the same so at the last minute, I made a marble cake for the base, a white chocolate blueberry coffee cake for the third tier, a chocolate cake for the second tier and a mocha chiffon for the top (at this point I didn't want to carry a rock to the reception hall).

While this is pretty, it isn't the Bouquet Cake that was featured in the On Demand video (which is how I happened upon this cake, the link from the On Demand section). I would really love to find a picture of that cake, but have not yet been able to, can you please fix this link?
