Like a tapestry, this bouquet is a celebration of rich hues and textures. Round Sedum 'Autumn Joy' and fuzzy fuchsia Celosia argentea var. cristata provide fullness, while snowberries and blue Salvia 'Indigo Spires' function as accents.
How-To
1. Choose a vase with a narrow neck and a wide mouth to hold the stems in place. Begin by cutting several stems (we used 12) of Sedum 'Autumn Joy'. Each should measure 3 to 4 inches longer than your vase's height. Move the cuttings around in the vase to create the outline of a dome shape; the crisscrossing stems will provide support to allow those in the middle to stand upright.
2. Then, cut a similar number of Celosia argentea var. cristata stems, and use them to fill in the outline of the dome.
3. Next, strip several branches of snowberries of all but a few leaves. Use the cuttings as accents, inserting as many as you like.
4. Add stems of Salvia 'Indigo Spires' as highlights, allowing them to spring up beyond the dome surface. Again, add as many as you wish, depending on how much blue you would like.
Maintenance Tip
Keep the arrangement out of bright, direct sunlight, and it will last for about a week. In addition, to keep it at its best, change the water daily.
