Temporary Tattoo Designs

Martha Stewart Kids, Volume 17 2005

Temporary tattoos make memorable party favors at a carnival-themed party. Set up a booth by hanging sheets or fabric from ropes suspended between trees -- and enlist a grown-up to play tattoo artist. Display blown-up designs so kids can select the ones they want.

Tattoo How-To
Print out our old-fashioned clip-art designs onto tattoo paper (available at stationery stores).

For those with problem with temp tatoos on children you have every right not to put them on your child. I personally put them on my grandaugher they rub or wash off in the next few days . I am very particular where I put them, and what the pictures are. I even were the ones I won't put on her. I don't like the idea of permanent ones on me or my grandaughter. what other people do is actually none of my business.

    Branna08,
I'm sorry, do YOU see a problem with putting a temporary tattoo on a kid? Because if you do, then you gotta lighten up girlfriend.

Apparently no one sees anything wrong with putting tattoos on children, temporary or otherwise.

There is always henna that is useful. It wears off in a week or so depending on how many baths they take and if they scrub the spot or not. You can get henna at a middle eastern supply store or, I get it at my health food store. Have fun!

Hmm...maybe I will have to follow-up with a manager at Michael's. My local store doesn't carry the tattoo paper and I couldn't find it at their website. I was curious about the Papilio sheets of tatoo paper? Anyone tried them? The Stampin Up kits were super cute. Those would make great b-day gifts!! Thanks!

Stampin Up! has tattoo kits for kids that are images that you stamp on the skin and then color in. Washes right off! No scrubbing!

Sounds like a great party idea! Has anyone been able to find them in their local stationery store? I haven't had much luck. Any success finding a good product online?

I have done this many times too and have 2 tips:
#1 Keep your tatto/face painting designs SIMPLE. Kids do not like to sit still or for more than a minute or two. #2 use an acryllic glitter gel paint to embellish your 'girlie' designs..it hides many imperfections!

I volunteered to do this at a fund raiser once. I and the organizer thought it was great. i am a professional artist.
I also have a lot of real tattoo work done...

Some parents acted like I was going to really give their kids tattoos. Some actually asked.
A few even asked if my extensive work was fake.
I do think it was a terrific idea...just be prepared for all kinds of opinions about tattoos...especially if you sport some ink yourself.
