Martha Stewart Living, December 2009
Channeling childhood summers on Cape Cod, crafts director Hannah Milman created a from-the-sea tree. Shells, sea stars, and sand dollars are dusted with glitter -- a single color, or two shades blended for an ombre effect -- or simply left as is.
Tools and Materials
Pair of scallop shells (such as these Noble Pecten shells, seashellcity.com)
Metallic cord
Hot-glue gun
Pearl bead (lavalierenyc.com)
How-To
Separate a pair of shells. With metallic cord, make a knotted loop; hot-glue knot inside 1 shell half. Hot-glue halves together. Slip pearl bead over loop; secure with a dot of glue.
