Advent Ornaments: Wide Ribbon Pouches

Introduction

These clever little sacks are easy to make and perform double duty, holding a small gift for each of the 24 days of Advent and trimming the tree.

materials

  • Grosgrain or satin ribbon

  • Sewing machine

  • Pinking shears

  • Candy or small toys

  • Marker or rubber stamp

  • Cord

steps

  1. Cut wide grosgrain or satin ribbon into 8- or 10-inch lengths. Fold in half. Sew up the sides on a machine; trim the tops with pinking shears.

  2. Slip candy or small toys inside. Mark the dates on tags with a marker or rubber stamp; thread cord through tags, and tie on bags to close. Hang bags or tuck safely between branches.
