Sea-glass pieces and ceramic shards, another beach find, can be combined in a Calder-esque mobile, producing a charming effect when hung by a window.
This mobile can be customized to include as many tiers or found objects as you like.
How-To
1. Cut a length of nylon cord. Wrap one end around a shard of sea glass or pottery and double-knot to secure. Continue adding shards until you've completed a string for the bottom tier.
2. Apply a dot of cement glue between each shard and its knot.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to make another string for the bottom tier.
4. Attach strings to a piece of driftwood with double knots, and apply glue between knots and wood. Tie a piece of cord loosely to the center of the driftwood; dangle mobile from cord, and adjust cord for balance.
5. Create strings for subsequent tiers, and attach to pieces of driftwood, working from the bottom up; check balance at each level.
6. Tie a length of cord to top piece of driftwood to hang.

I like this, will try and make it with my grandchildren this week.. It's so pretty.. Thanks
Neat idea Hope I can pull it off
I can imagine adding these to clothing as well. What about a scarf, a skirt, on a jacket, or shirt. So many possibilities. What about on a purse, a pillow, a bed skirt. The list goes on and on.
Such a fabulous project, the video is definitely more helpful than the written tutorial, but that stands to reason. :) Thanks so much for sharing - I love the mobile idea!
Maybe adding a few shells here and there would be nice too! I agree, the instructions should be more detailed!
I wish the instructions were more detailed. This is a lovely project . I'm going to make some of the mobiles and take Martha's idea of trimming a lamp shade or window curtain.
Thanks for sharing this.
