Washcloth Puppets How-To
1. Fold hand towel in half, finished end to finished end. Print and tape together puppet pattern template, adjusting size, if desired. Trace puppet shape onto the folded towel, and cut out.
2. Cut the pig's snout or dog's spot from washable felt; attach them with fabric glue.
3. Embroider features using a satin stitch.
4. Slip the felt ears between the towel layers (fold in the sides of the pig's ears first). Machine-sew around the perimeter of the puppet with a zigzag stitch.

.I was headed to Toys R Us, Walmart, and Target to look for hand puppets. Suddenly, it dawned on me that I could make several in the time it would take to stand in line. I knew Martha would not let me down.
I guess I'm not very sharp, but on the template, does anyone know what the #1 semi- circles are for? At first I thought it was for the legs but the picture shows no legs (since the hand goes in at the bottom.)
what a great idea and so simple. I now have some great items to make for some gifts that I need to make!!!
Love this project! It was so easy and fun! I will be making lots of these for gifts! Thanks Martha
