Paper Basket Bouquet

Try a twist on Easter baskets, and make a paper basket bouquet for every place setting.
Martha Stewart Living, April 2004

Try a twist on Easter baskets, and make a paper basket bouquet for every place setting.

How-To

All you need are small brown paper bags and baby-food jars or shot glasses to hold the flowers for individual place settings. A centerpiece requires a larger bag and a mason jar or drinking glass as a vase. The bags you use must be gusseted, with side pleats and a flat bottom.

1. Draw lines on a bag to make an upside-down T with a fat horizontal bar.

2. Cut along the lines with decorative-edge scissors. Open the bag. Arrange a bouquet of fresh flowers in a vessel of water; set bouquet inside the basket. Join the two halves of the handle with double-sided tape.

The possibilities are endless with this! Let kids color the bags, cover them with wrapping paper, use different color bags as several have already mentioned, and old gift bags. GREAT IDEA - I love it!

These are so cute. I'm going to have my daughters help me make several to set on tables outside for our 50th Wedding Anniversry party. Berni Kay

Very Cute! Why not use cutdown gift bags to suit the occasion?! If you used silk flowers they can be brought out every year. Silk forsythia, pussywillow are
very believable and will be marked down probably tomorrow.

Eco-friendly tip: use unbleached recycled paper bags.

I used colored paper bags purchased at a party supply store. They carry assortments of mixed colors. I used lunch sized and made 6 which I place randomly around the table. Very cute!
