Take poetic license with a box of ordinary pencils, and dress them up in complementary shades.
Begin your project by learning how to marbleize paper.
Once marbleized paper has dried, cut into strips (about 1 by 6 3/4 inches). Brush the back of a strip of marbleized paper with white craft glue; affix one long edge of paper to the pencil, then roll it against a hard surface to wrap the pencil and remove air bubbles.
Sharpen the pencils once the glue has dried.
Doesn't the paper and glue gum up the pencil sharpened?

OH MY G-sh, I've made these to match a little note book that I covered in scrap book paper and covered the pencil to match. Then I made a cover for a larger notebook and covered the pencil to match AND cut enough paper, rolled it, and inserted it into an inexpensive but clear pen - then I had a matching set - which I will give to my grandson. This is a great idea for gifts for guys. Seriously, if you don't like something - move on.
This would be a nice project to with the kids to let the design/monogram their own pencils. Nice idea if adding a pen/pencil to a homemade stationary gift.
Obviously not you...so why comment at all? I've made these as gifts; easy, inexpensive. I'll craft no matter how little time I have....my escape, my medicine...crafting.
