Macerated Strawberries

Macerated Strawberries

  • 1 pound strawberries, hulled (halved or quartered if large)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar


  1. Stir together strawberries and sugar in a medium bowl. Let stand at room temperature until juices are released, at least 30 minutes. Macerated strawberries can be refrigerated, covered, up to 1 day.

    I like having lists of simple things to remind me what to do with bulk groceries. You wouldn't think you need a recipe for something so simple, but it's all you have to do to dress up a fresh berry for topping cake, ice cream, or if you have a toddler who wrinkles his nose at the sourness.
