They say dogs are man's best friend, and now Purina, along with MSLO and the North Shore Animal League, are giving us all a chance to act on that sentiment with the Purina One Tour for Heroes.
Beginning on February 3, the Tour for Heroes mobile unit travels the country from San Francisco to New York and stops at local animal shelters in 11 cities to set up temporary food banks and pet adoption events. To help pet owners in need, more than 63,000 pounds of Purina One dog or cat food will be given to those who stop by the nationwide events.
If your city is not on the Tour for Heroes, you can still take part by helping to share profiles of adoptable pets. Simply visit marthastewart.com/pets and search for an adoptable pet in your area. Choose a pet you would like to help, and click to share his or her profile with friends on your Facebook page before March 31, 2010. Each time a photo is shared, Purina One will donate $1 (up to $50,000) worth of food to feed pets in need in local communities.
