Embroidered Bicycle with Basket of Flowers

Both charming and cheery, this bicycle is embroidered freehand on stretched cotton canvas. And it touts a woven basket, brimming with colorful blooms.

Introduction

This embroidery project comes from our friend Walker Boyes of TrueFort, based on the bicycle-themed "Floral Velo" series. To complete this project, you will need to download the printable pattern here.

materials

  • Lightweight natural fabric
  • Embroidery hoop
  • Embroidery floss in various colors
  • Embroidery needle
  • Fabric scissors
  • Water-soluble pen

steps

  1. Place chosen fabric in embroidery hoop, pulling smooth and taut.

  2. Download and print pattern on paper. To transfer the design onto fabric, place in front a light source and use water-soluble pens to trace each pattern line. (Tip: You can easily wash off any excess marks when you've finish embroidering.)

  3. Follow the provided color guide to hand-stitch bicycle and florals (or pick your own colors and be creative).

  4. Tighten fabric and trim off excess fabric on edges of hoop. Display your beautiful creation.
