Galaxy Easter Eggs

Give your eggs a speckled, cosmic look that makes them appear as if they were freshly plucked fromĀ amongst the stars.

Introduction

This idea comes from Digital Editor Alexandra Churchill. These painted Easter eggs are a departure from the typical pastel palette of springtime with deeper, darker tones. To preserve your eggs for seasons to come, watch our 1-minute video for the quick tutorial on how to blow out an egg. And for drying your painted eggs, a drying pin-board makes for even drying and quick cleanup.

  2. Using a foam pouncer, load with craft paint in purple and blue, and dab onto eggshell surface to create the look of interstellar clouds.

  3. Using a small foam pouncer, load with metallic gold craft paint. (Tip: To create the look of a swirling nebula as seen in the center egg of our picture, use the foam pouncer and gold paint to dab two semi-circles. Highlight the center with white craft paint.)

  4. Using a paintbrush, add tiny speckles of white craft paint. (Tip: To get that far-off starry effect, flick the stiff bristles of your paintbrush or lightly tap to splatter paint the surface.) Let dry completely.
