Stamped Easter Treat Bags

Lil' bunnies will be hopping for these goody bags! Plain muslin bags are adorned with colorful carrots — both fun to make and bunny-approved.

Introduction

This idea comes from our friend Anusha Rajeswaran of Fish & Bull. We love the idea of filling the bags with jelly beans, malted chocolate eggs, and other springtime sweets. For an added touch of personalization, you can custom-carve your own stamp; Anusha chose a carrot motif. (Tip: You can check the stamp by adding paint and stamping it on scrap paper first. Then before using, carve away any excess bits that are picking up paint.)

materials

  • Linoleum block
  • Linoleum carving tool
  • Pencil
  • Acrylic paint in orange, pink, and green

  • Muslin bags
  • Optional: toothpick

steps

  1. On a linoleum block, draw a pencil outline of a small carrot.

  2. Using the second finest blade on your carving tool, carve around your drawing. Carve a few lines within the carrot shape too.

  3. Lastly, carve away the excess linoleum until only the carrot is left.

  4. Apply orange and green paint to the stamp with a paintbrush and stamp away! Tip: If paint is getting into the carved lines and blurring the details, simply remove the paint with a toothpick before you stamp it.

  5. Allow the bags to dry before you fill them up with Easter candy.
