Ah, naptime. That magic hour when baby sleeps soundly… and Mom can (finally) catch a break. But for one new mom, Laura Izumikawa, naptime has become a wonderful creative outlet.

While her four-month-old Joey Marie Choi sleeps soundly, Izumikawa uses small props and handmade outfits to transform her into iconic movie characters, cartoons, and celebrities.

"It started out as something silly for my parents and in-laws," Izumikawa says. "Since they weren't able to see Joey every day, I would send them these funny pictures. That grew into more themed costumes, and the ideas started getting bigger and bigger." To make the baby costumes, she repurposes items from around the house including tinfoil, gift boxes, tissue paper... even clam shells. "My husband cooked us a clam dinner one night, and I thought the shells were so big and pretty. So I cleaned them up and used them to turn her into the Little Mermaid."

That's when she started posting these fantastical photos of her baby daughter's transformations on Instagram, and the internet didn't disappoint. She's already attracted 293,000 followers (and counting).

"I get literally hundreds of comments and direct messages from people, expressing how it made them happy," she says, "the support has been overwhelming. I'm so thankful."

We can't get enough of those chubby little cheeks and itty-bitty fists. Here are some of our favorites (perfectly pun-y captions included):
