To achieve this on the "plain on the outside, glittery on the inside" dual effect, a set of plain glass vessels are treated with three (count 'em, only three) kinds of craft paint. The result? A warm, shimmery glow that will encourage your guests to come again soon.

For more ideas, browse our entire collection of Ways to Get Creative with Candles.

  1. Using a bristle brush, apply two coats of glitter paint to the outside of the glass; be generous with the glitter paint by dabbing a large amount, instead of brushing. Let each coat dry completely before applying another layer.

  2. Using a brush, apply 1-2 coats of metallic paint on top of the glitter paint layer; this should result in an opaque gold layer.

  3. Using another brush, apply 1-2 coats of "Lake Fog" acrylic craft paint on top of the metallic paint layer, resulting in an opaque coat with no gold showing through.

  4. Place a votive candle inside and enjoy the sparkle!
