Heather Taylor | Owner and designer, Heather Taylor Home, Los Angeles
Textile designer Heather Taylor has a seriously tough time resisting a pop of color. “Sometimes I try to go more minimal, but I just can’t,” she says. It’s true of her personal style (she’s never without a bold lip, courtesy of Nars Red Square) and her eponymous line of luxe handmade linens, which includes soft cotton tea towels, lovely tablecloths, and scarves in a gorgeous mix of hues. The SoCal native and mother of a toddler, Scarlett, finds inspiration everywhere: in nearby Topanga Canyon, at Georgia O’Keeffe’s homes a short drive from Santa Fe, even from the hot-pink bougainvillea blooming just outside her studio. “Color,” she says, “is just a happy maker.”

For Great Finds
“When I want to give my home a breath of fresh air, I head to Nickey Kehoe (nickeykehoe.com), where I can always find something.”
For Tasty Eats
“I will gladly trek across town and wait in line just to get the smoked-fish plate at Gjusta (gjusta.com). Yes, it’s that good.”
”For a quiet moment, I visit the camellias at Descanso Gardens (descansogardens.org), which has one of the largest collections in the U.S. It’s a quick drive from where I live and is always majestic.”
For an Ideal Day
“My husband and I love to rent kayaks at the Malibu Surf Shack (malibusurfshack.com) and spend the afternoon on the water. If we’re lucky, we’ll spot dolphins or whales. Before heading home, we’ll stop at the Hungry Cat (thehungrycat.com) to catch the sunset with a cocktail. My pick? The Greyhound Proper.”
