Maple-Glazed Bacon for the Family

To enjoy the appealing marriage of maple syrup's sweetness and bacon's saltiness, set the strips on a rack on a baking sheet, brush on the syrup, and bake.

  • 1 pound thick-sliced bacon
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup

  1. Heat oven to 425 degrees. Place bacon on a wire rack, and set the rack over a baking pan. Brush maple syrup on each bacon slice.

  2. Bake 5 minutes; brush again with syrup. Bake 5 minutes more, or until tops are browned. Flip, brush with maple syrup, and bake, brushing again after 5 minutes, continue baking until bacon is well browned and glazed, about 25 minutes total. Serve.

Cook's Notes

For easy cleanup, line the pan with foil, then discard the foil after cooking -- or skip the foil and save the fat to use as a flavorful cooking medium.
