Blueberry-Strawberry-Layered Smoothie

This mouth-watering smoothie of pureed fruit and yogurt has only two grams of fat. Crushed ice makes this smoothie frothier when blended, but it may be left out if you prefer.

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces strawberries (about 6 large), stemmed and halved
  • 1/2 cup blueberries (about 3 ounces)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup nonfat plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup crushed ice

Directions

  1. Place the strawberries, blueberries, lemon juice, and sugar in a food processor, and puree. Pour puree evenly into two glasses.

  2. Combine the yogurt, milk, and crushed ice in a blender, and blend until frothy. Pour the yogurt mixture over the fruit puree in each glass. Stir the smoothie several times to slightly incorporate the two layers, and serve immediately.
