Citrus Dreaming (Aperol Negroni)

Rinsing the glass with absinthe before filling adds a pleasant anise-flavored note to this gin, vermouth, and Aperol cocktail from Sas Stewart of Stonecutter Spirits

  • 1/4 cup Stonecutter Spirits Single Barrel Gin (2 ounces)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Aperol (3/4 ounce)
  • 1 tablespoon sweet vermouth (1/2 ounce)
  • 1 tablespoon dry vermouth (1/2 ounce)
  • Absinthe, for rinsing
  • Orange peel and fresh cranberry, for topping


  1. Stir together gin, Aperol, and sweet and dry vermouth with ice in a cocktail shaker for 8 to 12 seconds. Strain into a chilled coupe glass rinsed with absinthe. Top with a skewered orange peel and fresh cranberry.
