New Home, New Nautical Nursery: A Before & After
When Mary Marzak and her husband moved into their new home, they started with a blank canvas for their soon-to-be newborn's nursery. See how this couple transformed this empty room into a cozy nursery.

Because Mary's child's due date was to be on her wedding anniversary, she knew she wanted the nursery to be extra special. The couple decided to name their son Dylan, which in Welsh means "son of wave, born near the sea." And with Mary being from the Florida Keys originally, the couple felt like a nautical theme was the way to go.

Here you can see Mary's vision come to life! The beautiful calming blue is offset by pops of orange in the rug and some decor details. It's a nautical oasis!

No Wake Zone
Mary crafted the cute "No Wake Zone" plaque with supplies found in her local craft store. You can create the same effect with craft paint from Martha Stewart Crafts. A model boat sits atop the wooden shelving unit to drive home the theme.

This wooden bureau provides Mary with ample storage for Dylan's clothing and accessories. The painted mirror, flanked by two hanging fish, adds a fun decorative touch.

Mary extended her nautical theme into every corner of the room, including the hanging oars, secured with EZ anchors and eyelets, above the wooden crib, and the white anchor lamp on the nightstand.

One of Mary's favorite pieces in the room is a the porcelain ark night-light, which was a gift from her mother, Dylan's grandmother.
