When photographer Inbal More wanted to hang personal photos in her living room, which doubles as her portrait studio, she selected removable photo wallpaper over traditional picture frames and canvas wraps -- she decided it would give her more flexibility when staging the room for client photo shoots.
Inbal designed her wallpaper on WeMontage.com, which lets you upload your favorite photos, create a custom photo collage, and print on large, removable wallpaper with adhesive backing. The final product comes on thick canvaslike paper with a matte finish that adheres and readheres to flat walls and textured surfaces without causing damage. This innovative solution is perfect for anyone who's ever spent hours banging nails into walls and hanging photos or art that ended up looking better in another room.
Before creating your own photo wallpaper, measure your wall space to determine what size to order. In the featured image, Inbal’s collage measures 6 feet wide by 2 feet high, which looks best with no more than 8 to 10 images. Take your time selecting images that tell a story. Also, be sure to consider the existing color scheme and feel of your room. For example, if you already have a lot of bright colors, think about creating a collage that features classic black and white images.
“To install your photo wallpaper, you’ll need a tape measurer, straight edge, level and a pencil,” says James Oliver, Jr., founder of WeMontage. They recommend having a friend help with installation of larger collages, but the entire process can be completed in less than 15 minutes -- and the result is simply stunning.
