Spicy Maple Butter

Serve this sweet and spicy spread with Buttermilk Oat Waffles and Oven-Fried Chicken for our take on a soul-food specialty.

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons hot-pepper sauce (such as Tabasco), or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt


  1. Mash together all ingredients in a bowl with a flexible spatula until smooth. Maple butter can be stored in refrigerator up to 3 days; bring to room temperature before serving.
