Note: For the heart box shown, we made a stencil with tape: Cut a piece of tape into a heart and adhere it to veneer, masking off a square around it. Then fill area outside heart with paint.

materials

  • Boxes

  • Veneer sheets

  • Stencils

  • Masking tape

  • Foam pouncers

  • Neon craft paints

  • Craft knife and cutting mat

steps

  1. Trace shape of a box top onto a veneer sheet. Tape a stencil to it; if stencil is larger than box, mask off part of pattern with tape, as shown. Use a pouncer and craft paint to fill in stencil; let dry.

  2. Remove stencil and cut out box shape from veneer; adhere to box.
