materials

  • Cardboard (22 by 28 inches)

  • 24-gauge wire

  • Awl

  • Wire cutters

  • Spray mount

  • White glitter

steps

  1. Start with a large piece of cardboard and 24-gauge wire. Punch 24 holes with awl about 2 inches from the edge of the cardboard in eight groups of three.

  2. Run lengths of wire between diagonally opposite holes, anchoring the ends by twisting them around themselves. Connect all opposite holes.

  3. Cut a 12-inch length of wire, and wrap it around all diagonal wires at the center, gathering them together. Wind the wire around the center, weaving over and under the diagonal wires to form a small circle.

  4. Start expanding the circle outward, picking up each diagonal wire as you go, wrapping the wire as you go, and wrapping the wire completely around it. Continue weaving outward in this fashion until a web is formed. Tie a new 12-inch length of wire to the end of the first one if needed. Cut the finished web from the cardboard using wire cutters. Spray the web with spray mount, and sprinkle it with white glitter to finish.
