It’s hard to resist the cool colors and graphic appeal of the YSL Couture palettes. They’re inspired by the famous color-blocked Mondrian dress, which Yves Saint Laurent designed in 1965 as an homage to the Dutch artist. The tone in the largest pan serves as your base color; sweep it across the lid to open and intensify your eye. The hue in the smallest pan is your eyeliner. The remaining shades can be used to accentuate the brow bone, define the crease, or add some drama to the overall look, explains Lloyd Simmonds, YSL Beauté’s creative director.
